Lots of the usual advertorial and PR bull here, but also the latest incarnation of all that, known as 'greenwashing'. To be fair, I'm maybe being over-cynical, but when I compare this to what happens locally, it's all a load of shite and, for example, they're bullshitting about being overrun with work and urgently requiring new drivers, when the reality is that you can't even get on the ranks for their idle cars at times Certainly some nice motors, though New 'green' Prestatyn taxi firm to champion 'local people' https://www.rhyljournal.co.uk/news/2354 ... al-people/ ![]() Image: Rhyl Journal A NEW taxi firm that has opened in Prestatyn is embracing green technology and putting "local customers at the heart of the business." Craig Smith, of Meliden, has invested £100,000 into his new venture Fin Cabs. The fleet is currently made up of two electric taxis, one hybrid taxi and three standard vehicles. The service, named after Craig's long-awaited one-year-old son Fin, has set out to be reliable, professional and one customers can trust to be on time and feel safe. The business offers an app - allowing customers to book and track the progress of their driver - and offers fixed fares to hospitals. Drivers can also escort patients to the relevant department if needed. Craig, who is married and previously worked within the prison service and served in the army for 12 years, said: "I originally brought a mini bus with the intention of carrying out airport transfers. The demand was phenomenal and I was increasingly asked to provide a local taxi service. "When I decided to make to make the leap, I realised how important it was to put our customers at the heart of what we do ensuring all vehicles were modern and comfortable. I soon had enquiries from drivers who liked our ethos and wanted to come on board. "As the work demand was there, I invested in five more vehicles. "I would like to achieve a reliable taxi service where customers can trust to be on time, feel safe and who are provided with a professional service. This is why we have an app the customers can use to book and track the progress of the driver to their pick up to ensure they know who is coming, what vehicle and where they are. "I have already got plans for expansion with a new mini bus and electric vehicle on order, due to the increasing demand for our service. "It is important for us to have electric vehicles and to be as socially responsible as possible. We think of the impact on our local communities and how we can play a role in protecting the future of our youth." Craig, 50, who worked for a taxi company previously, said that a taxi service can be a lot more than a lift - it can be a "lifeline" for people, especially those that are vulnerable. "I want to make sure people feel safe and welcome," Craig said. "With the cost of living crisis, we have set fixed fares for hosptials so people can make those essential journeys and we are very selective when taking on new drivers to ensure they have the right attitude and are happy to go the extra mile. We are happy to escort our customers going to the hospital to the department they require if that support is needed as we feel it is so important for our customers to feel safe. "I want to provide a service that goes the extra mile to help people and to enable those, who find getting out and about difficult, to enjoy being able to do that again with our support. "I feel there is a big need for such a service." Craig has five drivers in addition to himself. Two more drivers are due to start within the next few weeks. Talking about naming the business after his son, Craig added: "It was really important for us to name the business after him as everything we do is to provide him with a stable future. "We can't put into words how privileged we feel to be his parents." ![]() Image: Rhyl Journal |
