Taxi towed away after bursting into flames in St Michael’s Road, Sittingbourne



A white vehicle from Swale Cabs, based in West Street, was destroyed before its burnt out remains were towed away.

Mark Mattocks captured the moment the fire took hold of the vehicle.

He said: “It looks like it came from under the bonnet, an electrical fault or overheated I would assume.

The fire service has been approached for more information.

well it's a 1600 diesel (euro 6) so I am guessing maybe the aircon as diesel usually needs to get very hot to combust. Aircon of course filled wioth isobutane so very highly flamable.

Driver has only had the vehicle 16 months so will be well cheesed off but hopefully fully insured if he can get a realistic price from the insurance should be easy enough to replace.
