Three teens charged with assaulting cab driver

Two London teens are in custody and police are seeking a third after a taxi cab driver was assaulted Monday on Banbury Court, police say.

Three male youths took a taxi from Dundas Street, near Argyle Mall, to southeast London at around 7:30 p.m., police said Tuesday.

When the taxi arrived at its desination, one of the teens said he need to get money from a home while the two other passengers remained in the vehicle, police said.

The teen who left to get money returned to the taxi, went to the driver’s side window and assaulted the driver, police said. The other two teens joined ub and then all three teens ran away.

The driver suffered serious injuries, police said.

Witnesses saw three teens matching the description of the suspects running toward a nearby park, police said.

With the assistance of a police dog, officers tracked the suspects and two of the three were located and arrested, police said.

Two males, aged 15 and 17, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged jointly with robbery with violence.

Police are looking to identify a third suspect, who is described as six foot tall male, between 15 and 17 years old, with a slim build, dark complexion, and dark hair shaved on the sides

He was wearing black jogging pants and a black sweater, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call London police at (519) 661-5670.
