Taxi driver father of girl, 10, murdered in Woking house before three suspects fled UK - sparking international manhunt

MailOnline can reveal that this is the father of a ten-year-old girl who was murdered in a Woking house before three suspects fled the UK, sparking an international manhunt.

Malik Urfan Sharif, 31, moved into the three-bedroom £550,000 council house in the quiet village of Horsell, near Woking, in April with his wife Beenish and children.

Sharif works as a taxi driver in Woking, where his ten-year-old daughter - who has been named locally as Sara - was found in the early hours of Thursday after police responded to a 'call for concern'.

Detectives have identified three people they want to speak to who are believed to have fled the country on Wednesday - hours before the girl's body was found.

Associates of Sharif told MailOnline they had been left shocked by the news with one saying: 'I just can't believe it. He is such a friendly guy who adores his kids. He's been living in the UK for years and is originally from Pakistan. He works as a taxi driver with a hackney plate outside Woking station.'

Another neighbour confirmed the identity when shown his social media profile and added: 'He was a big fan of Imran Khan and had a picture of him in his car.'

It comes after neighbours last night claimed that two cars had disappeared from the driveway of the house the same night Sara died.

Locals living in Hammond Road in the village of Horsell say the vehicles were at the property hours before the child was found dead.

Both cars were gone by the time emergency services swarmed the residential road at 2.50am amid reports of concern for a child's welfare, The Mirror reports.

On Facebook, Sara's father has been vociferous about the cost of taxi licenses and three years ago commented on how he had paid £1,145 for an annual permit in a posting on fees.

It is not known if Sharif is one of the three people who Surrey police say they are looking for and who fled the country the day before the girl's body was found.

On his social media, he has uploaded videos of him in the garden of the family home in Woking and the furniture in the footage matches that seen after police had left a back gate open. There are also several clips of former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan.

Sharif attended the local mosque but was described as being 'not very religious', by friends.

He was described as a 'hardworking family man' and a 'good friend' by former Tory councilor Rashid Mohammed to The Times.

Sharif is reported to have moved to Britain from Pakistan about 20 years ago, with one fellow cabbie telling the publication the family was 'always friendly and laughing'.

Detective Chief Inspector Debbie White said on Friday: 'Our investigation into this tragic incident has continued at pace today with a number of enquiries underway.

'We have identified three people we would like to speak to in connection with our investigation and from our enquiries, we believe that they left the country on Wednesday, 9 August. We are working with our partners, including international authorities, to locate them.'

'Officers have been in the local area today carrying out house to house enquiries and we expect a police presence to remain around the scene over the coming week.'

Inspector Sandra Carlier, Borough Commander for Woking, added: 'I know that the community are shocked and saddened by [the] events, and we stand with them in their grief. Officers will remain in the area carrying out patrols and enquiries as part of the investigation over the weekend.

'I would like to reiterate that we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider public at this time. We will continue to provide updates as and when we are able to.'

There was a heavy police presence at the semi-detached property on Hammond Road on Friday as people laid flowers on the pavement.

One mother, who wished not to be named, said she was 'traumatised' by the news, adding that her children were 'terrified'.

She said: 'It's just a shock. My 16-year-old daughter was very upset thinking about that little girl.'

Several neighbours said that they were in a state of shock after hearing the news. In a statement on Thursday evening, Surrey Police said officers were called to the address at around 2.50am that morning following 'concern' for the girl's safety.

The investigation is being led by Surrey Police and Sussex Police's major crime team.

The child's loved ones have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, Surrey Police said.

Neighbour Amjad Ali, 47, told MailOnline he 'couldn't believe' that 'something like this happened outside my house.'

He added that the family moved in about five months ago and that everyone in the area is 'shocked' by the girl's death.

Mr Ali said: 'The first I knew of anything was around 3.30 this morning.

'My son looked out the window as I had taken my wife on holiday and were still up and he said the road was full of police.

'Then an officer knocked on the door and asked if we knew anything about the family, but we don't really know them.

'They are a Pakistani family that moved in about five months ago. I don't know where from, but the husband works as a taxi driver, and they have three or four kids.

'I only know them to say "Hello" and that's about it. The kids sometimes play together but we don't really mix that much.

'This is a very nice area and everyone is shocked. I didn't know a little girl was involved until I saw it on the news.'

There's a lot to this story that doesn't make sense because who other than the family would have known the girl was in the house. Did the family phone the police before boarding the plane ? or is it 1 parent and 2 children out of the UK and the other also away somewhere ?

a very unclear picture

this really doesn't surprise me I have come across similar instances where the reaction to committing a serious crime is for the relatives and friends to club together to try and conceal what's happened in the hope of getting away with it. I think eventually even the authorities in Pakistan will be so apalled at what has happened that they will assist in bringing the family to justice

many islamic families in the UK have major issues especially if their children are coming home from school with ideas and expectations which don't fit the strict islamic code. It would not surprise me in the least if the dead child was being punished for this and was accidentally killed in the process.

only time will tell but somehow I think jutice will be served in this case

Oh the family are claiming "it was an accident"

Sara Sharif: Father claimed death was accident, says grandad in Pakistan

The father of Sara Sharif claimed his daughter's death was an accident, the 10-year-old's grandfather has said.

In an interview with the BBC, Muhammad Sharif - the father of Urfan Sharif, Sara's dad - said he saw his son after he arrived in Pakistan.

"It was an accident, he didn't tell me how it happened," said Muhammad, and that Urfan had left the UK out of fear.

Post-mortem tests have found Sara sustained "multiple and extensive injuries".

Pakistan police have been hunting for Urfan, his partner and his brother for weeks but have failed to find them.

Not surprised how long did Bin laden live there unknown to authorities ?

They say they want to cooperate with the police.

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-66726936

Well get on the next plane to the UK and get this matter sorted.

I mean, heaven forbid, you could even attend your own daughter’s funeral.

muslim funerals are usually within 24 hours so if the body has been released by the coronor then that'll have already happened.

Personally i doubt it was an accident in muslim society little girls who don't do what daddy says and embrace non hard line islamic ideology often get very rough treatment from family members

Sara Sharif found dead under blanket in bunk bed, court hears

Image

Sara Sharif was found under a blanket in a bunk bed with her head up and her hands in front of her, a court has heard.

The girl’s father Urfan Sharif, stepmother Beinash Batool and uncle Faisal Malik are accused of the murder of the 10-year-old before her body was found at a property in Woking, Surrey on August 10.

They have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

The defendants left the UK for Pakistan alongside five children the day before her body was discovered and they returned to the UK on Wednesday.

The three were arrested on landing at Gatwick Airport and were later charged with her murder.

They appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court on Friday, where they were remanded into custody following a 20-minute hearing.

The defendants, from Hammond Road in Woking, spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses and did not enter any pleas to the two charges.

Urfan Sharif had his head held down as the prosecution briefly outlined the case against the defendants.

Sharif was wearing a grey prison issue tracksuit, Malik wore a red t-shirt and blue jeans and Batool was dressed in black, and were each flanked by a dock officer.

Two of the defendants required an Urdu interpreter.

Prosecutor Amanda Burrows told the court police were alerted to the situation when they received a call from Pakistan, which lasted eight minutes and 34 seconds, at 2.47am on August 10.

The flight had been booked on August 8, the prosecution said.

Officers arrived at the property and found the 10-year-old lying under a blanket, the court heard.

When they pulled the blanket back they found Sara lying fully clothed in the middle of the bed with her head up and her hands were lying on her chest, the hearing was told.

Ambulance crews were called to the address, where they pronounced the child dead just after 4am.

She was identified using the DNA of her mother Olga Sharif, who lives in Somerset, and another relative, the court was told.

A post-mortem examination later found the youngster had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries” over a “sustained and extended” period of time. The court heard her cause of death remains to be established, but she had “healed fractures” and injuries that “clearly demonstrate” the girl was subjected to “multiple events of violence”,

She also died as a result of third-party involvement, the prosecution said.

Lawyers for the defendants indicated that they deny the charges and no application for bail was made.

No update was given on the condition of the five children who remain in Pakistan.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram remanded the defendants into custody before they appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

I have to be careful what I say, prior to the trial, but it wouldn't surprise me if that conversation became a significant piece of evidence in any trial.

I suspect all the publicity coupled to a guilty conscience brought them back but I doubt the murder charge will stick. More likely the insistence that it was an accident will be the main argument for the defence.
