This is from TaxiPoint, and is mostly rehash from an official source, by the looks of it. But not difficult to find the paragraph that TaxiPoint has inserted. My impression is that they're more concerned about the HC/PHV split rather than how many 'taxis' there were in total CRACKDOWN: Lancashire Police and Pendle Council Taxi Licensing conduct enforcement operation https://www.taxi-point.co.uk/post/crack ... -operation In a proactive effort to address concerns raised by residents, Lancashire Police conducted a road enforcement day of action in Pendle yesterday. Partnering with the Pendle Council Taxi Licensing Team, the operation aimed to promote road safety, ensure compliance with traffic regulations, and enhance responsible driving behaviours. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police outlined the key areas of focus during the operation, which included vehicle speed, seat belt usage, mobile phone violations, and vehicle defects. The authorities carried out rigorous inspections of vehicle safety and driver conduct throughout the day. The results of the enforcement action were significant, with a number of violations discovered and addressed. According to the Lancashire Police spokesperson, tickets were issued for various offenses, including:
• Eighteen drivers caught not wearing seat belts • One vehicle seized under Section 165 due to lack of insurance • Seventeen vehicles found with defects, such as illegal window tinting • One incident of anti-social driving leading to a Section 59 penalty • Four vehicles caught speeding in a 30 mph zone • Four drivers using a mobile phone while driving. It is not known at this stage how many of the offences listed were against taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) drivers. The spokesperson reassured the public that the police will continue their efforts to ensure that local roads are safe for all individuals. They also urged residents to report any instances of unsafe driving behaviour through the appropriate channels. A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “Want to know what we found following a road enforcement day of action. “After listening to concerns raised by you, we were out across Pendle yesterday promoting road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations and enhancing responsible driving behaviours. “During the operation we, along with Pendle Council Taxi Licensing Team, rigorously inspected vehicle safety and driver conduct. The key areas of focus included vehicle speed, seat belt usage, mobile phone violations and vehicle defects.” |

Maybe it's just me, but I just didn't get it at first, particularly since it's on the TaxiPoint website, and it's headlined CRACKDOWN: Lancashire Police and Pendle Council Taxi Licensing conduct enforcement operation But it's not actually just about the trade at all It's a police crackdown against road users generally, and not necessarily the trade, although obviously council LOs were involved in the operation. To be fair to TaxiPoint, read this literally and it is questioning how many taxis and PHVs were involved rather than the taxi/PHV split per se: TaxiPoint wrote: It is not known at this stage how many of the offences listed were against taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) drivers. Er, the answer could be a big fat ZERO. I've come across stuff like that before, but wouldn't normally post it on here, because the figures are totally misleading - it's not possible to tell to what extent the figures relate to the trade. No doubt some members of the trade are included in the figures, but I'd guess it's only a minority, thus the figures as portrayed make the trade look awful, whereas the reality is almost certainly very different. But because of the way TaxiPoint framed it all, it makes it look like the list of offences and defects were taxis and PHVs rather than road users more generally. TaxiPoint does a great job in some regards, but this is not their finest hour, in my opinion

And the three photos, none of which show obvious signs of plated vehicles. And the replies from the members of the public. The mention of council licensing enforcement reads more like a passing comment. I think you've been taken in by TaxiPoint's framing of it, as I was initially, but if I'd read the Facebook post first then I wouldn't have really paid much attention, because it's mainly NOT about the trade. And, I mean, 18 drivers done for not wearing seatbelts just doesn't ring true for a trade crackdown operation, that being one of the more obvious specific anomalies. https://www.facebook.com/NelsonBrierfie ... 9Tobcue1Wl |

By the way, Edders, if you'd taken the time to quote more specifically it would have helped make your point. But splattering down the whole of the Facebook post in your quote just makes it look like the Lancs Police mention of taxi enforcement was just made in the passing You should have decontextualized the mention of taxi licensing enforcement
