Taxi driver cycles to all 92 English football league groundsA man who has cycled to every football club in the top four divisions finished his challenge by rolling into Plymouth Argyle ’s Home Park ground yesterday having raised more than £10,000 for charity through his efforts.
Danny Brazenell, 45, started off at Carlisle United’s Brunton Park on August 13, and has cycled more than 2,500 miles in less than a month, with Argyle’s ground being the final stop on his odyssey.
The former taxi driver, from Sevenoaks in Kent, was inspired to raise money for Great Ormond St Hospital after his niece fought a battle with serious illness, and has been rewarded with pitchside access at some of the nation’s top football grounds.
After arriving at Home Park around 11am yesterday, Mr Brazenell finished his challenge sitting in the home dug out, and said it was a relief to be finished after a final journey from Exeter City’s St James’ Park.
“Definitely,” he said. “I couldn’t wait to wake up and then I couldn’t wait to get it over. My SatNav said it would take over five hours, and I did it in about four hours.”
Cycling to all 92 grounds in the Football League and Premier League has seen him criss-cross the country and cover more than 2,500 miles on his bike, with members of his family travelling behind him for support.
“It was about 2,500 miles but where I’ve had to change a couple of routes it has ended up being more than that,” he said. “My niece was really ill and she’s given me the power to do what I can do and to give back to all the people who I want to give back to.
there's more but we get the drift oh and title is misleading because he is a former driver
