Post subject:  Police officers hurt after Birmingham taxi collision
The fact that no mention of the vehicle at fault suggests maybe the police car because no police force likes admitting to one of their officers making a mistake. 8-[

Two officers have been injured after a police car responding to an incident crashed with a taxi in Birmingham.

The crash happened on St Chads Queensway earlier on Saturday, which led to the road being closed at Snow Hill Queensway.

The officer "driving the car which was responding to an incident, had to be cut out of the vehicle and has been taken to hospital", police said on X.

The other officer received minor injuries.

"The taxi driver and a passenger, thankfully were uninjured," West Midlands Police added.

Presumably they can't/won't say either way at this stage, but interesting that there's no mention of questioning or charges or anything like that, which might suggest the driver isn't to blame.

But presumably there will be an extensive police investigation anyway for stuff like this.

But guess who the public are blaming on Twitter, despite zero evidence or any suggestion that the taxi driver may have been to blame? :roll:

Certainly quite a dramatic photo on Birmingham Mail's website, though :-o

Birmingham Mail's website going to town on this, with at least three articles, and one of those live update feeds :-o

Most of it is simply repetition, though, and apart from the Uber angle and the obvious upheaveal in central Brum, there's not much new to see.

Seems like both police officers released from hospital with just cut and bruises, though, so looks like no one seriously injured in the crash :)

And worth recalling that the fatal accident involving the young BMW driver and the 'taxi' a few days ago was also in Birmingham.

But the one earlier today certainly a lot less serious in terms of injuries.

I'd kind of guessed that it had happened late night/early hours sort of thing.

But seems it happened between 9 and 10am :-o

But looks like road closed for around five hours, and in view of the amount of police activity in the photos and videos, they've obviously launched a major investigation. Which is only to be expected when police vehicles are involved in incidents like this, of course. And hopefully the investigation will be a bit more independent and thorough than the Twitter hordes [-X

It looks like the police car was speeding (albeit legally) and collided with the PH.

When the police speed anything untoward that happens is usually down to the police.

Be interesting to follow who gets the blame.

Pretty sure most police cars have telematics which will have stored a lot of what was going on at the time.
