Not sure how often this happens, but can't recall many instances reported in the press about the trade, if any at all Taxi driver accepts apology after man arrested over assault https://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/ne ... d-assault/ A MAN arrested on suspicion of assaulting a taxi driver will face no further action. A police presence was reported on Hallfields Road in Orford on Christmas Day by residents. Cheshire Police has confirmed that officers attended to arrest a man on suspicion of assault on a taxi driver. However, the force added that the complaint was not pursued, with a letter of apology sufficient as an alternative to court. A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 10.44pm on Monday, December 25, police were called to reports that a taxi driver had been assaulted by a customer on Hallfields Road, Warrington. “Officers attended the scene, and a man was arrested on suspicion of section 39 assault. “The victim subsequently decided that they did not wish to make a complaint and it was agreed that the suspect would send a letter of apology.” |
