Looks like one of those multi-stop runs, so hardly a surprise if the driver had suspicions, never mind passing police.

But wouldn't be surprised if the Tactical Firearms Unit didn't just happen to be passing by and noticed the perp only travelled 100 yards... 8-[

(He presumably didn't travel just 100 yards in the taxi, but the car stopped, he got out, got back in and then got back out after another 100 yards. Just the kind of job I love, even if there are no drugs involved :---) )

Taxi passenger drug dealer caught with stash of cocaine and cannabis

A drug dealer has been convicted after officers from the Tactical Firearms Unit (TFU) conducted the patrols in Brighton.

Officers noticed Fiorent Muharremi acting suspiciously as passenger in a taxi in the Clifton Road and Clifton Hill area on Wednesday, February 7.

He had taken a short journey of just 100 metres when he alighted from the vehicle for a second time.

The plain clothes officers stopped him and carried out a search.

During the search, cash and 30 bags of cocaine and cannabis were found, and Muharremi was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and B drugs with intent to supply.

Following an investigation by Brighton CID, 20-year-old Muharremi, a car valet of no fixed address, was charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply and with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on February 8 he admitted both charges and was remanded in custody.

TFU Inspector Oli Fisher said: “Our highly-trained officers conduct a variety of duties above and beyond armed response, and regularly carry out patrols to assist our colleagues across the force.

“This includes proactive operations to help disrupt the supply of drugs, which cause so much harm in our communities.”

Muharremi will appear for sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on March 7.

From my experience, these things are never by luck.

I am surprised the driver hasn't gotten into trouble, but maybe he is one of the innocent ones. :-#

Dealer selling drugs from taxi in Brighton given two-year sentence

https://www.brightonandhovenews.org/202 ... -sentence/

A dealer caught selling drugs from a taxi in Brighton last month has been given a two-year sentence by a judge at Brighton Crown Court.

Fiorent Muharremi, 20, was ordered to be detained in a young offender institution by Recorder Paul Garlick at Brighton Crown Court.

Muharremi, of no fixed address, was spotted dealing cannabis and cocaine in Powis Villas, Brighton, on Wednesday 7 February when he was arrested by specialist officers.

Sussex Police said: “A drug dealer who was stopped by specialist firearms officers in Brighton has been sentenced.

“Officers from the Tactical Firearms Unit were carrying out plain-clothes patrols in the city to support efforts to disrupt the supply of drugs.

“They spotted 20-year-old Fiorent Muharremi acting suspiciously in Clifton Road at the junction with Clifton Hill.

“Muharremi got into a taxi and was taken just 100 metres onwards before alighting from the vehicle again.

“He was stopped and detained by the officers for a search and found in possession of class A and B drugs.

“Following an investigation by Brighton CID, he was charged with offences and appeared in court.

“Then at Brighton Crown Court on Thursday 7 March, he admitted possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and a class B drug with intent to supply.

“Muharremi, of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years in custody in a young offender institution.

“The court was told how officers had detained him on Wednesday 7 February this year.

“They found packages of white powder in Muharremi’s jacket pocket.”

Inspector Oli Fisher said: “Our highly trained officers conduct a variety of duties above and beyond armed response and regularly carry out patrols to assist our colleagues across the force.

“This includes proactive operations to help disrupt the supply of drugs which cause so much harm in our communities.”

why does anyone want to look at this image of a drug dealer who has been sent to a young offenders unit but once he's 21

Image

now the one about the York station kiosk was historically and aesthetically of interest. Clearly posting images in to periodically punctuate the text and make the article a tad more interesting is an English thing.

Up to 21, but often it's just a different wing in an adult prison.
