Two men are being hunted by police after a taxi driver was injured in a "violent and seemingly unprovoked" attack at Heathrow airport.

The driver was left with eye and nose fractures when he was punched in the face in the Terminal 5 arrivals hall.

He was injured between 05:30 and 05:45 GMT on 10 January as he waited to collect a passenger, the Met said.

The two men the force wants to talk to had travelled by bus from Woking to the airport, it said.

Det Con Ben Benlounes, from the Met's aviation policing command, said: "This was a violent and seemingly unprovoked attack, which has left the victim with very serious injuries to his face.

"We have made a number of enquiries to try to identify the men, and we're now releasing these images to see if anyone can help us with this.

"If you have any idea about who these people could be, then I urge you to get in touch with us and let us know."

Officers believe the men have connections to Woking, west London and parts of Surrey.

The first suspect was described as white with tanned skin, approximately 5ft 9ins tall and around 30-years-old. He was wearing black cargo trousers and black quilted puffer jacket.

The second man was described as black, around 5ft 11ins tall and was wearing black jeans, a black jacket and Nike trainers.

Anyone who has information about the identity of the two men or about the assault has been urged to contact police by calling 101 and quote reference 1000114/24.

There must be a 1000 CCTV cameras at Heathrow, there must have been dozens of other cabbies ranked up, and there are dozens of police with big guns.

Yet these thugs got away? [-(

armed police never patrol the terminals these days and there are a so many entrances and exits getting away would be simple.

And you are assuming it was a cabbie not a PH parked on the car park waiting for his pre booked passengers to come through. The text said this happenned INSIDE the arrivals hall

Yes, on reading it I thought it slightly more likely that the 'taxi' driver was in fact a PHD. Or if he was an HCD, maybe more likely a non-London HCD doing a pre-booked job.

Had a look on TaxiPoint, where you'd maybe except them to make the difference clear if they could find any additional information on what code the driver was working under.

But not a peep. On the other hand, I'd also expect the difference more likely to be highlighted on TaxiPoint if it was the driver who had done something wrong
