In the interests of balance, an update on the case involving Humza's brother-in-law
Interesting piece, though, and I'm surprised the Scottish Sun ran this
Don't know if this is what's called 'turned Queen's evidence' (or King's), or whether such a thing actually exists officially in law (and in Scots law in particular), or what the official take on this is. But make of it what you will...
FAMILY ANGUISH Grieving mum says Humza Yousaf’s bro-in-law ‘got away with it’ after son’s flat fall deathhttps://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/1 ... t-killers/A DISTRAUGHT mum reckons Humza Yousaf’s brother-in-law “got away” with involvement in her son’s death.
Jurors were told Ramsay El-Nakla, brother of the ex-First Minister’s wife, threatened Ryan Munro before he eventually plunged from a flat window.
But the ex-gas engineer had all charges against him dropped and he eventually gave evidence that helped nail Jennifer Souter, 39, Stephen Stewart, 52 and Victoria McGowan, 43.
They were caged for a total of 26 years for killing the dad-of-two.
But, talking about El-Nakla, Ryan’s mum Doreen said: “He got away with it. I don’t understand why.
“He got away with it as a deal. But he will get his comeuppance. It will happen.”
Ryan fell to his death from the third floor drug den in Dundee after he was accused of stealing £700 from dealers.
Shock video footage shows council workers rushing to help him after the early morning incident.
He was raced to the city’s Ninewells Hospital in January 2024 but died days later.
His mum claimed cops had to be pressured by the family to properly probe the death, because drugs were involved.
She said: “The police weren’t great. They saw Ryan as just another statistic but he wasn’t.
“I think it would have been put as an accidental death if his brother hadn’t pushed it.
“I was never angry. I don’t know why. I was upset and I lost two years of my life really.”
A judge was told plumber Ryan was a regular at the crack den, which was across the road from the flat he shared with his brother Mark.

Doreen said her son had worked since he was a teenager before he wound up running with the wrong people.
But she said: “You make choices. Ryan did make a choice, I understand that.
“But his nature wasn’t like them. He was gentle. He was a good lad.”
Stewart – whose previous crimes included abduction, extortion and drugs offences – was yesterday jailed for 11 years.
Souter and McGowan were sentenced to seven-and-a-half years each.
Jurors heard how the trio created an “environment of menace and threats” at the flat where they abducted Ryan in Morgan Street, Dundee.
They wanted the victim to give them money and held him against his will.
He was placed in such an “extreme state of fear and alarm” that he jumped to his death from a window at the property and hit the ground.
Doreen added: “I don’t care what happens to them. I do care that they might not be able to hurt someone for a while.
“I would like them to come out clean and without drugs, but that will never happen.
“But Ryan might be able to rest in peace now. We might as well.”
El Nakla, 37, went on trial facing drug and extortion charges before he was cleared by prosecutors.
The High Court in Edinburgh was told Ryan had been warned “the boss” was coming, before El-Nakla arrived.
And it’s claimed El-Nakla threatened to break his legs and have him battered if he didn’t pay up.
El-Nakla said crack cocaine took over his life and he spent up to £800 in a day on the drug. And he admitted he borrowed cash and sold belongings to get cash for his habit.
His sister Nadia is the depute Lord Provost in Dundee as well as the city council’s spokeswoman for drugs and alcohol.

She vowed not to quit her job as she said her “lived experience” helped with the high-profile role.
Lady Drummond told the three killers: “Mr Munro remained in an extreme state of fear and alarm.
“He was so terrified about what might happen to him, he saw no other option but to make his escape by jumping from a window from a high and fell to his death.
“Miss Souter left and walked past him without acknowledgement.”
