How do we know the VM engine is going to be bad? I remember the howls of discontent when LTI went Japanese in 1988, and we ended up with the best and most reliable power unit to date. Whatever it is, it has to be an improvement on the current engine?

GBC go to your nearest VM garage and speak to any of the mechanics and they will tell you, They cannot pull the skin of a rice pud, use gallons of oil and you only have to look at the van sales figures to see no one wants them. the engines are made by FIAT or as someone said( fix it again tomorrow) LtI should have contacted the trade to find out what is required instead of charging in like a bull in a china shop. If the pco was to drop the demand turning circle (its the pco that is messing it up for the rest of us) they could make a cab that we could all be proud of and every one in the country could own and it could be used in rural area's where you can drive at 60mph most of the time. with decent handling So I would have opted for a cab that seats 6, and has easy wheelchair access without having to lift the rear seats and a lower step in, more luggage room smaller wheels so I could have a choice of tyres, and a turbo charged engine with minimum of 150bhp and 35 mpg min And least but no least sold at a price we can all afford I know that this is dreeming but dreems can come true but if you want change tell them |

These vehicles have always had overpriced junk status. The only engine of any note was the 2.7 Nissan. Skippy hit the nail on the head when he said we need a complete new design of vehicle that benefits both driver and passenger. These LTI vehicles are a waste of money and its about time someone somewhere sat down and produced a blue print for a decent vehicle that is going to benefit everyone. This mandatory turning circle nonsense is probably stopping innovation and investment and I think we should all take note of what Skippy said about pushing for a new modern vehicle that everyone can feel comfortable in. I would like to see the LTDA and every other organisation take a serious look at the opinions expressed here and elsewhere and campaign for such a vehicle. I propose that every organisation and body that feels the same way as myself and TDO should contact me with a view to breaking down the barrier of the the prohibitive turning circle and the other conditions that work against the benefit of all. I am looking for a United voice in order to make the case for change irresistible in the halls of power. Regards JD |

JD as an after thought could any manufacturer of some elk if contacted, build a cab for the future, IE Nissan or VW then let the PCO know where to stuff the turning circle.
