Well this is a bit odd - police arrive mob-handed over a fare dispute, but then it's 'nothing to see here'

And a big headline and photo in the Echo about it, then just three paragraphs of copy :-o

Police swarmed a road near McDonald's following a "taxi fare dispute".

Pictures shared with the ECHO showed a number of police cars and several officers near to the McDonald's on Rice Lane in Walton at around 11pm on Tuesday, July 9. The photo shows a group of police officers appearing to talk to one another and one officer can be seen talking to a man.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed the call was in regards to a "dispute over a taxi fare" and it was a civil matter. Police said "no offence was committed".

The problem is that if the passenger is disputing the amount of the fare and is willing to pay a certain amount, it becomes a civil matter. :doubt:
