In this case I disagree with the comment that refers to, "ability to pay". It is wrong to assume that just because a person has adequete funds on his person to pay the taxi fare, that this was their intention. No dount We have all had instances involving drink were passengers have refused to pay for whatever reason, even though they had the means to do so. ..................................................................................... The Mirror July 27, 2006 Thursday HEADLINE: DEATH FALL CAB DRIVER GETS 7YRS BYLINE: BY PAUL BYRNE A TAXI driver who left his passenger to die after he fell from his cab at 60mph has been jailed for seven years. Iain Cain tried to get out of Nazam Khan's cab after a row over the fare. But Khan, 55, drove off and Mr Cain, due to be married, fell out head first. Khan, who claimed Mr Cain had jumped out as he looked for a police car, sped off with the door open leaving him dying in the road in Bradford last October. Mr Cain had pounds 47 on him, more than enough to pay the pounds 12.70 fare, Bradford crown court heard. Witnesses saw the taxi stop and Mr Cain start to get out before he was pulled back inside. Khan claimed Mr Cain was drunk and boisterous. Tests showed his blood alcohol level was only just over the legal drink driving limit. Khan was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and banned for 10 years. Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC told him: "This was disgraceful behaviour, it was a cowardly act. "Ian Cain was a solid, decent young man. He was nowhere near drunk." ...................................................................................... |

Fills you with confidence when their phone numbers a mobile number. Very professional I don't think. |

Yes, and when many years ago, I was charged with driving without due consideration to other road users, (1973) I was advised to plead guilty, the union will pay the fine. So I represented myself, and was cleared. Non-union ever since. The GMB promised Lincoln they would easily overturn a council ruling on WAV's in 1990. (treaty of rome) complete WAZ, of course. A chocolate fireguard would be more useful. |

I'm sorry you feel that way. Feel free to delete this site from your favourites then maybe you'll stop spamming the threads with sales propoganda. Now, with respect, give us peace. Many thanks |

Strange that some people would rather ring a land line than speak direct to someone on their mobile, but it takes all sorts.
As for people being guilty just because they say they are, well I happen to believe that doesn't always happen. Maybe not as frequent though as people being innocent just because they say they are.

I will repeat for your benefit that I was advised by my "union" to plead guilty and they would pay the fine. When I said I wanted to defend the charges, the union withdrew support. I defended myself, and was cleared. The GMB exists to keep people like you in the style to which you have become used to at the expense of your members that you have deluded into believing that you will make a difference. |

Look I'm not a fan of unions, especially the T&G, but it was 33 years ago you were mugged off by them.
As for an anti WAV crusade, well if someone asked me for up to £50,000 for a judicial review that's bound to be lost, then even rich old me would think twice.

Oh dear, you seem to have a habit of upsetting people wherever you land Terrence. The old 'midas touch', now its the GMB touch. Whats happened in your life to fill you with this hatred, and bile? Tell old GBC all about it, a problem shared and all that? GMB Branch secretary wrote: you thought we had the monolopy on the idiots , they seem too have found a home on this SITE.
Now thats not very nice, all these members keep you in a comfortable lifestyle, just like Kevin Curran and Miss Coulter enjoyed until they were rumbled. Did the unions legal aid help them?
