Taxi driver smashed rival's cab with bat during row over fares https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wale ... b-29702850 A taxi driver smashed up the car of a rival in a row over fares. An argument broke out late on the evening of July 1 last year between taxi drivers parked at Mill Lane in the centre of Cardiff. One of those involved in the row was the brother of Abdigani Ebrahim. Ebrahim, aged 38, then attended the scene and became embroiled in the argument. During the early hours of the following morning an altercation took place between Ebrahim and another taxi driver in Northcote Street in the Roath area of Cardiff. The defendant approached the victim’s taxi and got inside before returning to his vehicle to get a bat. He then brandished the bat towards his rival but did not strike him with it. However he did smash two windows of the other car and was later seen giving the bat to another taxi driver who removed it from the scene. Ebrahim, of York Place, Grangetown, Cardiff, admitted one count of affray and one count of criminal damage and appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday for sentencing. The court was told police officers from South Wales Police attended Northcote Street shortly after the incident and saw damage caused to both taxis, including the defendant’s, and Ebrahim told police at interview that he was the victim. Addressing Ebrahim, Recorder Mark Powell said that both he and the other taxi driver involved were “both equally to blame”. The other man is being dealt with separately, the court heard. He added: "It may be that you did not start it but you should have driven away from it. It’s a serious matter and it’s serious enough for me to impose a community sentence.” Ebrahim was told he must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work over a period of 18 months. He must also pay a total of £540 made up of £400 in costs and a victim surcharge of £140. |

Madness, absolute madness. It's really not worth it, drive away and calm down. |
