How on earth will anyone actually know who has picked up who and where they went, even if they actually existed in the first place? :-k

Taxis replace trains in Cornwall after services axed

The rail line between Liskeard and Looe was shut on Sunday due to a shortage of train crew. National Rail has confirmed that taxis will replace trains and has issued advice for travellers.

The disruption is expected to last all day. The company says: "A shortage of train crew between Liskeard and Looe means that the line is closed. As a result, no trains will run between these stations."

It says taxis will run between the two stops via Sandplace (operated by Yeo's Taxis and Taxis Services Plymouth) all day, and will pick up at the front of each station.

National Rail adds: "Before getting in a taxi, please check with the driver that they are working on behalf of Great Western Railway, and the driver should not ask for payment.

"The replacement road transport may run later than the advertised train times due to to the additional time taken by road between stations, and the time required for loading and unloading at each stop.

"You may use your ticket on First Bus Go Cornwall route 73 between Liskeard and Looe at no extra cost."

The branch line was also closed on Bank Holiday Monday due to "more trains than usual needing repairs", said Great Western Railway.

rail replacement work is a lottery some times you get paid often you don't

they do know how many tickets they have issued as all railway ticket sales appear on a database within seconds so they can match that data to the invoice submitted

People with season tickets?

People who have booked in advance with open return tickets?
