Man said 'I'll peel his f***ing face off' after what taxi driver told him outside McDonald's

Calvin Elliot said "Swear to God I am going to peel his face off... peel his f***ing face off lad."

A racist thug repeatedly kicked a taxi driver before calling up his workplace and threatening him with "a bottle of acid". Calvin Elliott, 31, verbally abused and attacked Ahmed Shebaz after the driver told him he could not drink alcohol inside the cab.

The incident occurred just after midnight on August 12 2023, when Elliott, of Dane Court, Rainhill, and two women entered a Britannia Taxis cab outside McDonalds on Liverpool Road, Huyton. When Mr Shebaz asked the trio to leave their drinks behind, Elliott became "unfriendly and aggressive" and said: "You are Muslim, you are making us Muslim, why can we not drink in the car?”

He continued to be aggressive towards Mr Shebaz, repeatedly bringing up his race and religion and shouting: "Why are you here? Why do you work here?" He then asked Mr Shebaz to stop the car, and when he did, he jumped out and began to kick the driver's door.

At Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, December 18, prosecutor Nick Cockerell said: "After two or three kicks to the door, he opened the door and kicked Mr Shebaz to his right thigh. Mr Shebaz could not remember how many times he was kicked.

"Mr Shebaz was able to shut and lock the door. The defendant then began to pull at the windscreen wipers on the vehicle. He was pulled away by one of the females, both of whom had by now also exited the taxi.

"The taxi was driven to the side of the road and Mr Shebaz spoke to some members of the public who called the police. The £10 fare for the journey was never paid."

Following the incident, at around 00.50am, Elliott called Britannia Taxis in a rage and spouted racial slurs about Mr Shebaz before demanding: "I need your colleague’s number, Westfield Street, got a mate going up for a taxi, possible bottle of acid for him."

He then turned his anger on the taxi company, saying: "I've had a couple of issues with Britannia tonight so I'm gonna go and pay each office a visit. I’m going straight up to Westfield Street, there is a little f***ing combover kid there getting a full bottle of acid right down his face.

"Swear to God I am going to peel his face off... peel his f***ing face off lad. Tell him to get out of that office. I'm on my way in ten, fifteen. Watch lad, watch this. I swear them little wools on Westfield Street think they’re something, I'll set fire to the place, watch."

Elliot, who has five previous convictions for six offences, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault and three counts of sending malicious communications intending to cause distress. He was sentenced to three months in prison for racially aggravated assault and nine months for the malicious communications offences, bringing his total sentence to 12 months.

Interesting he got three times as much for the words he said compared with the assault.

But it does emphasise too many of us that working nights is not the place to be. [-(
