Kind of thing that's always a worry, particularly because you know there's little chance of recompense.
Maybe police
are interested, but maybe just saying they're investigating for PR purposes.
And Just Eat's response deffo PR spiel
Norwich taxi driver left with £1,000 bill after hit-and-run
A taxi driver has been left with a £1,000 bill after a hit-and-run involving a Just Eat cyclist in Norwich.
Zsolt Horvath was near the pedestrian crossing in Unthank Road at the Park Road junction when the delivery cyclist crashed into the back of his car.
The 44-year-old got out to talk to the courier and to assess the damage but the alleged offender got back on his bike and sped away.
Mr Horvath caught the incident on his dashcam and reported it to the police and Just Eat.
“I think the big frustration for me is the fact there doesn’t seem to be any repercussions about this incident,” Mr Horvath said.
“If I had hit a cyclist with my car and drove off then I'd be in handcuffs by now.”
A spokeswoman for the Norfolk Constabulary confirmed an investigation is under way into the incident on January 2.
In a statement, a spokesman for Just Eat said they “expect all drivers associated with Just Eat to act responsibly and respectfully”.
"Many drivers delivering food to customers’ doors are employed directly by independent restaurants, but we also work with self-employed independent contractors across the UK,” he said.
"Regardless of this, we would expect all drivers associated with Just Eat to act responsibly and respectfully at all times.
"When we become aware of any practices that fall below the high standards we expect, we always take steps to address this."
