U-Ride hit out at parking fines at Norwich Train Station

A taxi firm in Norwich has claimed drivers are "scared" to enter the train station car park after being hit with steep fines.
Multiple U-Ride drivers, a company based in Magdalen Road, have been handed £100 fines for picking up and dropping off passengers at the city’s train station.
Nazia Sheikh, the CEO of U-Ride, said as many as 30 taxi drivers have been penalised.

National Car Parks (NCP) and Greater Anglia, which run the car park, have said that these issues are now "resolved".
But Miss Sheikh believes the fines have put drivers off entering the car park.
"People are scared about entering the train station because of these fines," she said.
"We have proof that our drivers have been on multiple jobs and that they're only in the station for about five or six minutes.
“But because they're doing multiple trips in and out of the train station, they're being charged for it.
"If taxi drivers are facing such issues despite having tracking data to challenge the fines, what about regular commuters and visitors who lack the resources to contest these decisions."

NCP requires vehicles parking at the train station to pay anywhere from £2.20 for an hour of parking up to £13 for an all-day ticket booked on the day.
Private hire vehicles can leave and enter the station as many times as required, as long as they do not exceed the 20-minute grace period.
"We are aware of a previous issue at Norwich where some number plates were not captured leaving the station," a spokesman for Greater Anglia said. "We have resolved this problem."
Greater Anglia and NCP also stated that an appeals system is in place for drivers who feel they have been incorrectly charged.
