Another wee rabbit hole Saw this on the Bolton New site, and despite it sounding quite official ('spokesperson'), it read more like something that would be posted on Twitter/X rather than from a 'comms' department press release. So thought it just as well just to post the photo and tweet in that other thread about the drunk driving taxi drivers, rather than rehash the press, er, rehash. But after scouring various social media accounts, couldn't find the photo or tweet. So looked at the Manchester Evening News rehash, and it did specifically say it was a GMP Traffic post on X Which was one of the social media accounts I'd looked at for the photo. So I'd guess it's maybe been deleted for legal reasons, or similar. So back to the MEN rehash. About, er, not very much in the grand scheme of things. But at least it wasn't me Although, to be fair, the MEN rehash is pretty succinct, instead of repeating the same thing over and over... Taxi driver arrested on suspicion of drink driving after ploughing into 'Welcome to Bolton' sign https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... k-31012450 'Totally Uber-lievable' ![]() Image: GMP Traffic/The Bolton News An taxi driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after crashing into a 'Welcome to Bolton' sign. Police say the cabbie was taking passengers home after a night out when they ploughed through a crash barrier into the sign on the motorway into Bolton last night. GMP Traffic said the driver was arrested at the scene after blowing twice the drink limit. GMP Traffic posted on X: "You've had a great night out, book a Taxi, expect a safe ride home, When a pesky fixed road sign jumps out on the Taxi causing a crash! "@gmptraffic arrived on scene, arrested the Taxi driver, who blew over twice the limit at roadside ! Totally Uber-lievable!" |

Quote: "@gmptraffic arrived on scene, arrested the Taxi driver, who blew over twice the limit at roadside ! Totally Uber-lievable!" Not sure if it's just a pun or if it actually was an Uber, but again why is it only Uber who's identified as the operator in cases like this? Couldn't see them IDing the operator if it was ABC Cars, or whatever

That said, I really hope they throw the book at the driver. It's bad enough to drive pi**ed on your own, but with passengers, it is the lowest of the low. |
