Pretty much a carbon copy of the recent stuff from Norwich station.
But at least the ANPR stuff is specifically addressed here. But just a few technical glitches which are easily sorted out, says NCP
Taxi drivers slam 'fault' leading to 'silly' parking fines at Cambridge stationhttps://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/c ... g-31096838Taxi drivers said they received fines claiming they stayed at the car park overnight, when they can prove they were only there for a matter of minutesTaxi drivers have slammed a 'system fault' as they report receiving fines for exceeding 20-minute time limit at Cambridge railway station car park – when they say they have not done so. Private hire driver Domenico Condro described being hit with seven wrongful parking charge notices from parking provider NCP over a period of two weeks in February.
Mr Condro said he has appealed the fines by providing information from his taxi app which proves he was not at the car park when the charge notice letters say he was. However, he believes drivers who cannot prove this – such as friends and family members dropping people off at the station – may have been unfairly charged.
He said: "I feel frustrated. It’s a waste of time, appealing these silly fines. It’s quite a stressful situation. I feel concerned as I spend two weeks waiting for responses to my appeals.
"If somebody appeals without any proof then they still have to pay. The company should stop issuing tickets while they sort out the issue. You can’t really go fining people, stressing them out and wasting their time."
Uber driver Gabriel Murgu said he was given an unfair parking charge notice last April. Despite providing evidence from his Uber app that he was not in the car park when it was claimed he was, Gabriel said he was told he would be fined in August – and went on to receive a letter stating he owed £277 to Moorside Legal in February 2025.
He claimed to have contacted NCP again, but said he has not yet heard back from them. Mr Murgu said: "All the drivers are just scared.
"The main problem is the means of interaction when you get a fine. There’s no way that you can prove that you haven’t done anything wrong.
"It is hopeless. You haven’t done anything wrong but nobody will listen to you. They don’t care."
A spokesperson for NCP said: "NCP has looked into the cases [Domenico's and Gabriel's fines], and have reviewed and accepted the claimants' appeals and the PCNs have been cancelled. From time to time technology can fail, and when it does we work to resolve those issues.
"ANPR systems will occasionally miss a vehicle registration number due to several reasons, such as vehicles tailgating or dirty number plates, and at times this can lead to an incorrect PCN. This is why we have a clear and fair appeals system, and take each PCN on a case by case basis.
"We apologise to any customer who has been affected by this."
