Although the driver didn't actually help.

Uber driver sparks outrage after series of errors caused passenger to miss his flight

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/arti ... light.html

An Uber passenger has sparked fierce debate after allegedly picking a passenger up to take him to the airport - and stopping to get gas en route to his destination.

Brandon Straka, who previously went viral after he was arrested in connection with the January 6 riots, posted a series of tweets documenting the incident, where he claims to have missed his flight due to the driver's incompetence.

'Am I wrong here???' Straka wrote on the tweet, alongside a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

'My driver went the wrong direction on the way to the airport and had to turn around, and now he STOPPED TO GET GAS!!'

He continued: 'I was already cutting it super close because it took 15 minutes for him to arrive to pick me up - but now I am 100 percent missing my flight. Can you guys please weigh in on this????'

In an update to the platform, Straka claims to have missed his flight by two minutes, admitting he was running late and then the Uber took at least 15 minutes to arrive.

He also alleged that the driver was going in the wrong direction.

'There's nothing I could do,' he raged. 'I couldn't even get out of the car.'

'To get out of the car and call another Uber would take at least as much time to him to just finish getting gas or possibly even longer,' he added.

Straka continued declaring the situation was 'avoidable.'

'We were not delayed because of construction, or an accident in the road - something that was unavoidable, this was avoidable,' he slammed.

The irate passenger said he got to the airport and did miss his flight.

'[I was told] I had missed my check in for my bag by two minutes,' he said in disbelief.

Straka did admit that he should have allowed more time to get to the airport, but maintained the Uber driver shouldn't have stopped on the way.

Users were mixed in their responses, some blaming the driver for not being prepared, while others noted it was important to be prepared while going to the airport.

'It's your fault. Anything can happen on the way to the airport. You have to allow time for things to go wrong,' one X user chastised.

They continued: 'Of course the guy did a bad job. You can give him one star ask for refund or whatever. Still you are the primary person to blame and you shouldn't be yelling at this guy.'

'No. You are not wrong. It's his responsibility to gas his car up before either starting his shift or picking up a fare. That's number 1,' argued another.

'Driver is in the wrong imo. You should have gas in your car before accepting a drive especially if it shows airport destination,' someone else agreed.

Another questioned the legitimacy of the situation.

'Lol this must be satire. But thus doesn't surprise me in the area of no accountability,' one wrote.

So he admitted cutting it fine but blames the driver. I once got a roasting from a train driver who allowed only 1 hour to get him to cambridge station from stamford he was furious that I stuck to the speed limit when the journey was only doable by exceeding the speed limit.

If I'd know this was about Newark, New Jersey rather than the likes of Newark-on-Trent, I wouldn't have bothered reading it

But, I mean, this is the incident here. A bit odd - driver looks totally cool about it all. But maybe that's because the car seems to be filling up without the driver moving his bum cheeks - do people still come to your car and fill it up for you in the States, like used to happen here when some of us were nippers? :-o

And this is his eight-minute rant about it later.

Or at least, I assume it's a rant, because couldn't be bothered watching it [-(

I mean, even the shorter video above kind of gives the impression it's more about social media clicks and press coverage. And the Mail Online duly obliged

I believe attendant service gas stations are still a big thing in the US. maybe it's all those dusty roads meaning your windscreen needs cleaning every time you fill up !
