Another one not on the council's website, and this is the press version. And doesn't do the trade any favours. But, to be fair, it's not like the press has spun it differently from officialdom :-|

Unfortunately zero detail about what kind of vehicle faults were found.

Taxi and private hire operators in Pembrokeshire are being reminded to keep an eye on their paperwork following a ‘disappointing’ morning of spot checks in the county.

Dyfed-Powys Police, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVLA) and Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing and school transport teams took to the roads on Thursday morning, April 3, for the checks.

They targeted the Neyland and Milford Haven areas, together with the A477 area around Sageston and focused on taxis and private hire vehicles.

Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing team said after the operation: “Disappointingly, lots of issues encountered.”

The teams checked 24 vehicles, and as a result issued six suspension notices, four delayed prohibition notices and found that three drivers were not carrying badges. They also discovered that one of the vehicles was untaxed.

Fixed penalty notices were served where appropriate.

The team added: "Taxi and private hire operators in Pembrokeshire are reminded to go through a vehicle checklist at least weekly to ensure that vehicles are safe and compliant with licence conditions."

So the priority isn't bald tyres or rusty chassis? Instead it's paperwork. #-o

To be fair, that kind of read like the press's take on it all, rather than the council's - I'd guess they're referring to the 'vehicle checklist' referred to in the direct quote from the council at the bottom of the article, which they've then referred to as 'paperwork' :-o

And, indeed, after an extensive search :lol: I managed to find the original source, which is on the licensing team's Facebook page (yes, they have their own), and there's no reference to paperwork:

...so I'd guess the paperwork thing was just simply something lost in the translation between the council's post and the press rehash. Or maybe the press did the rehash from the Welsh version, and something literally was lost in the translation :lol:

Interestingly, Facebook translates the Welsh version such that vehicle checklist' reads 'bus check list', so I suppose the press's 'paperwork' take wasn't bad. Some other very odd translations below, though. Underlines that you can't rely on AI, or whatever :-o
