When I read this months issue of PHM I couldn't help but notice a full page reference to an outfit called UGO. Then yesterday I saw the same piece in Taxi Talk magazine. I must admit its the first I've heard of UGO but no doubt you have? I think I read a reference that this firm may be an offshoot of Medigan but I don't know anything about them either? lol

All I know is that UGO seem to be installing direct lines here there and everywhere and I was wondering how much it costs the cab firm by way of freephone termination charges?

JD, dont know about terminating charges but this mob are parasites of the taxi trade. Down here I am fairly sure the cab companys stick together so they don't charged excessive amounts to put a free phone in a venue.

Anything from next to nothing to £20/30/40,000 a year.

Big story about 6 years ago on the telly when an employee was taking big bribes, and/or telling others what others have bid.

But as some of these freephones give firms 1000s of jobs a week, in many cases they are a good thing for some ops. :-$

Under normal circumstances a freephone would cost thousands to install and in many cases the distance of the line would reflect the cost but in this particular advert I think it said UGO installed the line and the taxi company picks up the cost of each call. I would imagine as well as genuine calls you would get some ungenuine calls, therefore picking up the tab for all calls.

If anyone knows any firms that use this UGO setup can you let me know.

It might be easier to list the ones that don't. :?

JD, I would suggest you contact BT and ask them how much it costs to install a direct connect, which is what UGO offer and compare the charges. I would also watch in the future for their charges once a line becomes succesful, as they usually offer the line to several companys and ask them all to bid on it.
