Edinburgh Airport passengers face 'travel nightmare' in 'hour-long taxi queues'https://uk.news.yahoo.com/edinburgh-air ... 12756.html
Holidaymakers travelling through Edinburgh Airport have been left frustrated after being caught in 'hour long taxi queues' on Monday morning.
Travellers described the situation as a "nightmare" as hoards of people hoping to leave the airport were left standing outside with their suitcases on July 14.
It reportedly comes after a blockage on the tram line which caused services to come to a halt. The incident involved a lorry that spilled some of its load on the track crossing.
As a result, there was a huge delay for taxis and buses leaving the airport. One traveller described the taxi queue as "unbelievable".
One Edinburgh mum, who returned from a long haul trip, said: "I've never seen anything like it. The queue for taxis is unbelievable.
"We have been here waiting for nearly one hour. The bus seems to have a massive queue too and there are no trams running."
She added: "Black cabs don't even seem to be turning up now, total nightmare."
Edinburgh Trams confirmed the blockage has since been cleared but there may be some delays.
A statement reads: "The line was temporarily blocked by a lorry spilling some of its load on the track crossing near the airport.
"The blockage has now safely been cleared, and trams are resuming their usual service, although there will be some extended wait times as we return to full-running."
Edinburgh Airport has been approached for comment.
