Just your workaday taxi crash into a house, according to early reports :-o

But more to it than meets the eye, according to this latest report, although all still a bit vague.

It reads like the cab was deliberately shunted into the house in the middle of the night, but who knows :?

There's a wee easy-loading video on this BBC report, but the photos below are from the local press, but the video doesn't really add that much to the still photos.

A taxi has smashed into a house after being hit by another car.

Two men have been arrested and a road closed after a vehicle was used to push the parked taxi into the home in Woodgreen Avenue, Banbury, Thames Valley Police said.

The men, aged 19 and 28, both from the Oxfordshire town were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after the incident at about 03:30 BST on Monday and remain in custody.

No injuries have been reported.

The southbound side of Woodgreen Avenue remains closed and "a number" of properties have been evacuated while an investigation is undertaken, police added.

This on Streetview looks like the cab parked outside the house. So presumably the pair just came along and shunted the cab into the side of the house in the middle of the night :-o

And the occupant of the house seems to be one of those who's chosen to have their property blurred out on the Streetview images 8-[

so if the driver of the other car sticks to his guns and insists it was an accident how easy would it be to prove that it wasn't ?

Well who knows what evidence they have, Edders, but there may be an evident motive etc :-o

And you kind of get the impression from the photos and the location that a crash like that at 3.30am is maybe more than a simple accident.

And they've arrested a third man, and all three in custody 8-[

"As part of our enquiries a 19-year-old man and a 28-year-old man, both from Banbury, were arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of criminal damage. A third man, a 59-year-old from Banbury, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage yesterday afternoon.

"All three remain in police custody at the current time.

"Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call 101 quoting reference 43250421142."

Fourth person arrested - a woman :-o

No sign of any charges yet, though...

Banbury - Police issue update after taxi crashed into house

Police have confirmed that no further action will be taken after a taxi crashed into a house in Banbury last summer.

As previously reported, a car was smashed into the side of a parked white Peugeot taxi in Woodgreen Avenue.

It then caused the taxi to collide with the house it was parked outside of, leading to significant damage to the bricks.

Nobody was injured in the crash, but the road was taped off for most of Monday, August 18 last year while officers investigated.

Two people were arrested shortly after the crash, with two more shortly afterwards.

All four of those arrested were released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries by investigating officers.

However, Thames Valley Police have now confirmed that no further action will be taken.

A spokeswoman said: "All those arrested have been released from police custody with no further action to be taken.

"Following a thorough review of all the lines of enquiry available to us in this case, this investigation has now been filed."

well if all 4 stuck to their guns over their story and the insurance claim was sorted out with no failed alcohol or drug tests maybe the police decided it wasn't worth wasting any more resources
