This isn't so much about the driver.

And in the grand scheme of things it's not the worst incident, either for the driver or victim :-|

But if you want a good illustration of why you don't get many women driving taxis, particularly at night, then this is it :-o

And, of course, it's not just the thought of picking up dangerous men that's the issue for potential women drivers... [-(

Colchester woman given community order for assault

A 29-year-old woman who slammed a woman against a taxi and kicked and hit her while she was on the ground has been given a community order.

Sancha Corby approached the victim as she returned to a taxi after buying cannabis at a flat in the Greenstead Road, Colchester in March last year, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Godfried Duah, prosecuting, said there was a history of bad feeling between the two woman and as a result of the attack the victim had suffered grazes to her hand, wrist and elbow.

The incident was witnessed by the taxi driver who intervened and drove the victim home, said Mr Duah.

Corby, formerly of Charles Pell Road, Colchester, admitted an offence of assault by beating and was given an 18 month community order, a programme requirement and a three month GPS trail monitoring requirement.

The court heard that Corby, who has 58 previous convictions, was living in supported accommodation, had a job and was no longer using drugs.
