Godfried Duah, prosecuting, said there was a history of bad feeling between the two woman and as a result of the attack the victim had suffered grazes to her hand, wrist and elbow.
The incident was witnessed by the taxi driver who intervened and drove the victim home, said Mr Duah.
Corby, formerly of Charles Pell Road, Colchester, admitted an offence of assault by beating and was given an 18 month community order, a programme requirement and a three month GPS trail monitoring requirement.
The court heard that Corby, who has 58 previous convictions, was living in supported accommodation, had a job and was no longer using drugs.
