It's at least five minutes since I've read something like this
(In fact, it must have been about a year ago when he started, assuming I read the earlier article referred to, but it's certainly not on here...)
Devizes taxi firm celebrates milestone after supporthttps://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news ... e-support/
Image: Towner Taxis/Gazette & HeraldAn independent Wiltshire taxi firm is celebrating a “successful” first year in business.Lifelong Devizes resident Craig Townsend, also known as ‘Towner’, set up his own taxi company in the town in August last year.
12 months on, he has made it through his first year in business trading as Towner’s Taxis and says he has built up a solid customer base during that time.
He said: “It’s definitely gone a lot better than I thought it would. I do a lot of airport runs, they make up the bulk of my trips I have clocked up well over 55,000 miles with plenty more booked in.
“The support from the community has been massive, my only form of advertising is Facebook and recommendations so to do as well as I have is a huge success.
“You get so much business from word of mouth, recommendations, and tagging on social media, and that has just helped me to keep growing.”
Mr Townsend says this success has been due to the support of the Devizes community, who have got behind independent businesses like his.
He added: “I’d like to thank everyone who’s helped me on this journey so far… I’ve built up some great relationships with customers, and that continues to happen every week as I meet new people.
“Thank you again to everyone that has supported my business, and I look forward to meeting new faces in and around the Devizes area in the coming months.”
Mr Townsend previously worked in manufacturing for over a decade.
Last year, he told this paper he decided to start his own business because he didn’t want to regret not taking a leap of faith in the future.
At the time, he said: “I just love driving and I’m a people person anyway… I wanted to give it a go, so I did a little bit and really enjoyed it, then I thought I would go for it.”
Looking to the future, Mr Townsend has his eye on expansion, but says he is happy with his current workload for now.
He added: “You can’t do everything, for the first three months you don’t want to say no to anything and it is definitely a lot of work.
“At the moment I’ve got a lot of work and it’s a nice amount.
“I might experiment within the next year with getting another car or driver, it would be nice to build it up, but at the moment I’m very happy.”
