Can't be bothered going through all the possible permuations regarding this on the York news outlets' websites, but their output is based on this brief Facebook post from North Yorkshire Police. So although one of the local outlets headlines it as being about a 'taxi', the Facebook post doens't actually say that, but since it involved an argument, and it happened at or near a taxi rank, then I suppose it's a fair enough assumption that it was a taxi and driver involved, but this doesn't specifically say that: (That said, it does say it happened 'in' the taxi rank, so it could potentially be an illegal parking ruck, and thus a taxi driver attacking a 'civilian' car ![]() North Yorkshire Police wrote: We’re appealing for information about a criminal damage/public order incident that has taken place in the Taxi Rank – Duncombe place in York
It happened on the 8/09/25 around 13.30 and involved an argument – which resulted in a screwdriver being used to damage the victims vehicle. If you have seen this incident take place or you have any further details, Please email nabiel.galab@Northyorkshire.police.uk if you have any information that could help our investigation. In fact reminds me of 'comedian' Joe Lycett (no, me neither), and the time he parked on a taxi rank in York, and it all became a big part of his act to the elitists and smugocracy, and how he got out of a parking ticket (I'd guess he's the type who just parks everywhere, on the basis that he can either pay the fine out of his no-doubt substantial earnings, or wangle out of it somehow.) This is the Channel 4 version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gkiw7zpULo This is the longer, adult version. Maybe in actual fact he and his audience are the ones "wan****" at the thought of parking on taxi ranks ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQVylL0FIs4 |
