Man and woman robbed taxi driver at knifepoint https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/in-your-a ... r-35918715 A man and a woman have been locked up after robbing their taxi driver at knifepoint. The cabbie's terrifying ordeal happened in Manse Street, Coatbridge, on September 9 last year. Mark Doyle, 36, of Annerley Place, Coatbridge, and Jamie Lee Black, 29, of Ware Road, Glasgow, appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court this week. They admitted assaulting the male driver and robbing him of cash and his car keys. Kevin Morrow, prosecuting, said a caller using Doyle's mobile phone booked a taxi shortly after 1am. A Skoda was despatched to Langloan Street, Coatbridge, where he and Black were staying at the time. Mr Morrow told the court: "The accused got into the rear of the vehicle. The driver agreed to go to Manse Street to pick up a friend. "Then the two accused presented knives and Doyle said, 'give us all your money'. "Doyle got out of the taxi and removed a pencil case from the driver's door pocket. This contained about £200 in fares. "He also took the keys from the ignition before he and Black ran off." The pair were traced an hour later at the Langloan Street address. Black was in possession of more than £80 in mixed notes and coins. She told police officers: "We were only going out for fags. I didn't know he was going to do this." Sentence on Doyle and Black was deferred until next month for background reports. Sheriff Derek Livingston said they'd pleaded guilty to a serious charge. The sheriff refused to continue bail and remanded them in custody. |
