Pretty unremarkable in the grand scheme of things, but he's got what might be called the un-holy trinity of workaday taxi crimes - assault on driver, bilking and criminal damage :-o

Passenger assaulted Hereford taxi driver and failed to pay

https://www.herefordtimes.com/news/2545 ... ailed-pay/

A TAXI passenger who attacked a driver and made off without paying his fare will be sentenced later this month.

Liam Allen indicated guilty pleas to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one of making off without payment, and one of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in September.

He had assaulted a taxi driver, causing him actual bodily harm, in an incident in Hereford on June 30, 2024, magistrates heard from prosecutor Elizabeth Blacklock.

The 24-year-old had also recklessly or intentionally damaged an internal taxi dashcam belonging to the driver and made off without paying his £8.40 taxi fare.

The case was adjourned for sentencing, with Allen, of Turbit Close, Ross-on-Wye, released on unconditional bail.

He will appear before magistrates in Hereford for sentencing on September 18.

And this has taken over a year to get to court. [-(

shocking - but then again, how long have we been waiting for either a national cab act or anything done on cross border hiring?

Not clear why the earlier report seemed to indicate only one perp involved, whereas there were actually three :-o

Sounds a bit more serious than as portrayed in the earlier report, too.

But, of course, a simple list of charges often disguises the gravity of it all :?

Taxi passengers assaulted driver and damaged camera

https://www.herefordtimes.com/news/2548 ... ed-camera/

A GROUP of taxi passengers who carried out a "sustained attack on a vulnerable victim" have been handed suspended sentences.

Liam Allen appeared before magistrates for sentencing in September after indicating guilty pleas to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one of making off without payment, and one of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 earlier the same month.

Scott Bryant entered guilty pleas to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one of possessing cannabis, and one of making off without payment.

And Gary Allen admitted one count each of making off without payment and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

They had assaulted a taxi driver, causing him actual bodily harm, in an incident in Hereford on June 30, 2024 and made off without paying their £8.40 taxi fare, magistrates heard from prosecutor Camila Toscano.

Liam Allen had also recklessly or intentionally damaged an internal taxi dashcam belonging to the driver, while Scott Bryant was found to be in possession of cannabis on the same date.

Magistrates said the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified as the offence involved a "sustained attack on a vulnerable victim" and were a group action.

Liam Allen, 24, of Turbit Close, Ross-on-Wye, Gary Allen, of London Road, Gloucester, and Bryant, 31, of Wisteria Way, Churchdown, were handed an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay compensation of £825 to the taxi driver and prosecution costs of £85.

Except that the prison sentences are suspended :?

A suspended sentence is viewed as a custodial sentence. 8-[
