I'll bet this is popular with everyone in the trade

Wonder who pays for it?

I mean, over-80s maybe, or over-70s is just about believable, but over-60s? :-s

Not sure if it all makes me feel very young for my age, or very old

A LONG-standing Oxford taxi company is offering free rides to all senior citizens in and around the city this Christmas.

001 Taxis, which has operated as the largest fleet of private hire cars in the city for the past 50 years, will give anyone over the age of 60 a free lift this Christmas Day.

The company's generous gesture is aimed at anyone aged 60 and over, with the free rides available from 9am to 3pm Christmas Day.

Journeys must be within a 10-mile radius of Oxford.

A spokesperson for the firm said: "We’re happy to announce that we’re offering free taxis to all senior citizens on Christmas Day between 9am and 3pm, as a small gesture of our appreciation."

To book a free ride, elderly passengers need to quote 'SENIOR 60' when contacting 001 Taxis’ booking office on 01865 240000.

Senior citizens may be asked to provide proof of age.

I'd show them my bus pass, and tell them that's what I normally use, because it entitles me to free bus travel on the other 364 days of the year

(In truth, I've had mine nearly two year now, but haven't used it once  )

Idiots.

If that firm wants to be Billy big bo******s to the OAPs, why not donate the money to Age Concern and allow all drivers to earn a living on Christmas Day?
