Post subject:  Is Uber UK 'tipping' video staged?

Saw this last night on some obscure Twitter account, and it had been viewed a couple of million times :-o

Almost posted it on here but, as I said, the source was quite obscure.

But now this is on a more mainstream UK account - anonymous, but I think this account is often retweeted by people like Rupert Lowe MP, and in fact this video has been retweeted by former GB News presenter Dan Wootton. It's been viewed almost half a million times already.

Anyway, I call BS, and for numerous reasons it just doesn't ring true, but won't bore the forum with my theories

But most people seem to think it's real, but with quite a few saying it's staged. But the Grok AI tool on Twitter says it's genuine, because it's been featured in credible online news sources. But, of course, this could be a type of 'hallucination', because if credible sources are fooled, then in turn that will fool the AI tools

(And important to underline that it's claimed to be a UK Uber trip.)

And even some of the doubters are a bit misguided, saying that she could have opened the doors if she'd wanted to. I'd have been caught out by that myself until a few weeks ago

Others saying Uber tipping is done via the app but, to be fair, that wouldn't stop the driver demanding a cash tip. In theory, at least.

Anyway, I still say it's faked [-(

This is a flavour of some of the Grok AI responses. First is to the basic authenticity question, then Grok's response to people doubting the authenticity. To be fair, Grok does take some of the points on board, and then seems to change its mind :-s

AI, eh? #-o

Quote:
This video appears to be a real incident based on multiple reports from sources like Times Now and Moneycontrol, describing a dispute over tipping in the UK. No evidence suggests it's staged. The clip ends abruptly without showing resolution; searches found no updates on outcomes like police involvement or Uber's response.

Quote:
The video does show a silent third person in the back and has edited angles with zooms, which could suggest staging. Reports from Times Now and others treat it as a real 2025 UK incident, but lack official verification from Uber or police. Uber tips are app-based, not upfront demands. Overall, authenticity is unclear—no conclusive evidence either way.

Quote:
Fair points—the lack of police calls, silent third passenger, edited angles, and abrupt ending do suggest staging. Media like Times Now report it as a real 2025 UK incident, but no official Uber or police confirmation exists. Without resolution details, it's hard to verify. Leaning staged based on these inconsistencies.

people put too much faith in AI but it is trained in an environment that is flooded with false information and data so it can never be reliable surely ?
