A taxi driver had his licence suspended two days before Christmas after he failed to meet the requirements set out by the council.
Ipswich Borough Council have suspended a hackney carriage taxi driver after he failed to produce a medical certificate.
The suspension was effective immediately with no date specified over when it will end.
Council documents state that the requirements of the Taxi and Private Hire Policy are that all drivers have an active medical.
The medical examination for hackney carriage taxi drivers involves a thorough assessment to ensure they are medically fit to drive.
During the examinations, the driver's cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, neurological and psychiatric conditions are evaluated.
Ipswich Borough Councils' Head of Public Protection made the decision on December 23.
The applicant must pay any GP charges, and the GP or medical practitioner must confirm that the applicant meets the DVLA Group 2 medical standards.
During the decision-making process, the Chair of Regulatory and Licensing Committee was consulted while no alternative options were considered when suspending the driver's licence.
