The fatal road traffic collision, where a 71-year-old woman died, happened just after 10am this morning on Thornton Road.
The 72-year-old taxi driver who was involved in the collision was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are investigating after a fatal road traffic collision on Thornton Road in Bradford.
“Officers were called at 10.17am (11 April) by the ambulance service to reports of a serious road traffic collision involving a taxi on Thornton Road, Bradford.
“Despite medical attention sadly, the 71-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver of the grey Toyota Pirus taxi, a man aged 72, was arrested at the scene on suspicion causing death by dangerous driving.
“He was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
“The road remains closed this afternoon whilst enquiries are carried out at the scene.”
Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry team are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage to come forward.
