This is a Facebook post on a local policing page.
I don't suppose the four suspended out of 12 cars checked is particularly spectacular. But 20 'traffic offences' seems unusually high, assuming 'dealt with' means they were ticketed, or whatever, as opposed to some maybe just being a slapped wrist.
And not clear if the no licence/insurance car was the same one that didn't have an MoT.
Certainly not a good result for the trade, though
And not sure if the date is correct, since this was only posted yesterday. But it's an odd way to phrase it anyway - you wouldn't state a specific date
and the word 'recently', even if it was just a couple of days ago
PROTECTING PASSENGERS, KEEPING KEIGHLEY SAFEOn the 3/2/26 West Yorkshire Police recently carried out a joint taxi licensing operation in Keighley, working closely with Bradford Council Taxi Licensing, Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Response officers, and Traffic units from across Bradford. The focus was simple: keeping passengers safe and ensuring licensed vehicles and drivers meet the required standards.
During the operation:
• 12 taxis were examined
• 4 vehicles were immediately suspended due to serious safety concerns
• A vehicle was seized for having no licence or insurance
• Over 20 traffic offences were dealt with, including mobile phone use, seatbelt offences, no MOT and vehicle defects
• Drivers were educated on standards and legal requirements to improve compliance moving forward
The operation also led to:
• Proactive safeguarding action
• Criminal offences identified and dealt with
• Intelligence submissions to protect vulnerable passengers
This operation shows what can be achieved when agencies work together — raising standards, preventing harm and improving public confidence in the local taxi trade.
West Yorkshire Police remains committed to proactive policing, road safety, and protecting our communities in which further operations will be carried out in the future.
