This is a post on the Redditch Police Facebook page.

And it's fairly clear about the numbers of cars stopped, and then how many were selected for ramp inspections, and how many were subsequently suspended.

And although the faults from the three suspended cars seem fairly straightforwardly presented, there's nothing about other stuff found - I mean, surely out of 28 cars stopped they didn't only found the three faults which warranted the suspensions.

And, despite the involvement of Wolves LOs, no breakdown as regards the plating authority.

But that's certainly not a Wolves plate blanked out in the photo :-o

On Friday 8th May Redditch Safer Neighbourhood officers worked in collaboration with Worcestershire Regulatory Services, Redditch Borough Council and Wolverhampton City Council focusing on taxis working in Redditch.

Wolverhampton City Council were involved as a large number of private hire vehicles operating in Redditch are registered with Wolverhampton City Council. Over the course of the evening 28 taxis were stopped and drivers spoken to ensuring they had the correct paperwork and safety equipment in their cars. 7 cars were directed to attend a full safety inspection, similar to an MOT, 2 cars were found to be in an unroadworthy condition due to dangerous tyres, a further taxi stopped out on the roads had a cracked windscreen, these drivers all had their taxi licences suspended immediately and will have to have the issues rectified and re-inspected before being able get their licences back.

We are planning some more operations like this in the future to ensure that people using taxis in Redditch are getting into safe and roadworthy cars, and those drivers not keeping on top of their car maintenance will be taken off the road until their cars are safe.
