Well that’s good news for the the local, non uber, trade.

And for the traveling public who actually want drivers to know where they are going.

All that said, expect Uber to fight back.

They will now offer big incentives for drivers to switch and/or easy finance for vehicles.

The latter was a big draw for a couple of mates switching down here.

Interesting. I assumed councillors would wilt.

It's not that I'm on the side of Uber, but I'd guess there's a political element to all of this. Not the usual party politics stuff, necessarily, but certainly an element of capture :-o

I was going to agree with you on that, but reading the report to councillors, I'm not so sure.

Officials didn't indicate a view; they just gave out the facts from the consultation, which showed that more folks wanted retention, but overall, more people wanted amendments to the taxi/PH tests.

One thing that did make me smile was that they have a taxi limit of 1079 taxis, but currently, only 484 taxis are working.

Please, please, please don't tell me that they still conduct SUD surveys.
