Another one where Fife Council should take note. Of course, they wouldn't announce it officially. But I'd guess their thinking is more along the lines of 'Residents and businesses urged to park on the taxi ranks' :-o

(Yes, I know there's two Ls in Caerphilly. But I'm hoping no one will notice...by drawing attention to it in case someone does  )

Residents and businesses urged to keep taxi ranks clear

Caerphilly County Borough Council is calling on residents and businesses to help tackle the unauthorised parking and obstruction of taxi ranks across the county borough.

Recent concerns have been raised regarding vehicles parking on designated taxi ranks, particularly at the two taxi rank locations in Caerphilly town centre. Taxi ranks adopted by the council provide essential working spaces for the borough’s licensed hackney carriage (taxi) drivers, enabling them to safely wait for and transport passengers throughout the day.

The council recognises that some motorists may not be fully aware of the locations and restrictions associated with taxi ranks. All designated taxi ranks are clearly marked with road markings and signage, and only licensed Caerphilly County Borough Council hackney carriage vehicles are permitted to wait on the ranks for fares during their operational hours.

Motorists are reminded that parking on a taxi rank during its hours of operation may result in a Penalty Charge Notice being issued by the Council’s Civil Enforcement Officers (CEOs). In response to recent reports, CEOs will be increasing their monitoring of taxi rank locations across the borough.

Councillor Philippa Leonard said:

"Taxi ranks play a vital role in supporting our licensed taxi trade and ensuring residents and visitors have access to safe and reliable transport. We are asking everyone to be mindful of the restrictions in place and to avoid parking on designated ranks, even for short periods. Keeping these spaces clear helps our taxi drivers carry out their work effectively and ensures the ranks remain available for those who rely on them."

The council would also like to remind motorists that waiting on a taxi rank to collect school children, pick up food, or carry out other short-term activities is not permitted during the rank’s operational hours.

The current locations and operating times of hackney carriage taxi ranks in the borough are:

Caerphilly, Station Terrace – 04:00 until Midnight

    Caerphilly, Castle Court – 08:00 until 18:00

Blackwood, Bus Station – 24-hour operation

    Blackwood, High Street – 12:00 until 18:00

    Bargoed, High Street – 18:00 until 08:00

Bargoed, North Lane (Bus Station) – 24-hour operation

Residents and businesses are thanked for their cooperation in helping to keep taxi ranks clear and accessible for the benefit of the wider community.

This is the official photo, which is a bit big to display on here.

But, I mean, check out the nick of that car on the rank. I'd feel self-conscious to drive around in something looking like that

(Or even more self-conscious than I feel in my relatively anonymous Octavia HC.)

And maybe it's just me (and it's years since I've actually used a 'taxi'), but a livery like that is one reason I'd avoid the ranks, or avoid phoning that particular firm. Not a deal breaker, exactly, but still one factor I'd consider [-(

Nice motor as well, but totally spoiled by that wrap, or whatever it's called :x

Even the Guildford wrap is preferable to that :-o

If it wasn't for big yellow patches I think that might be fairly smart on a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is smart I would give it a 3 or 4 could you imagine if they'd been forced to put a welsh dragon on it ?

Guildford scores - 10 on the same scale
