Can't find the original source for this. And it's brief and to the point. And not sure how the press release or whatever was framed. But a press rehash could certainly have portrayed this in a totally different way that was more adverse as far as the trade is concerned. But two delayed prohibitions certainly isn't the worst result ever for the trade, even if only 10 cars were checked And, I mean, the two cars involved could have needed towing away with numerous dangerous faults, and the headline and opening paragraph here could have been precisely the same, and with zero inaccuracies... Which, of course, would have been a ludicrously positive framing in the other direction... Ribble Valley taxi spot checks reveal most cabs safe https://www.lep.co.uk/news/ribble-valle ... ty-8833492 A spot check on taxis in the Ribble Valley revealed most cabs are roadworthy and safe to use. A joint operation by Ribble Valley Borough Council and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) saw officers carry out a further round of spot checks in Ribble Valley to ensure the safety and reliability of taxis in the area. During the inspections, a total of 10 hackney carriages and private hire vehicles were thoroughly examined. Of those, eight were found to meet the expected standards. Two were issued with delayed prohibition notices and given seven days to rectify the faults. Both vehicles were repaired the same day and the prohibitions lifted. Councillor Ian Brown, chairman of the council’s licensing committee, said: “It’s vital that vehicles used to transport people around meet the highest standards. “The council and DVSA will continue to carry out regular inspections of licensed vehicles in the borough to help ensure standards are kept high and passengers, and drivers, are kept safe.” |

So the faults would more than likely have been tyres or lights. 20% failure is not good, but let's celebrate the 80% who are the good guys. |
