It is one of the issues they have raised over ongoing road closures across the city, including one on Tenter Street which came into force this week.

“Especially during rush hour with diversions, we’re not always able to get them there.”
Tenter Street roundabout, Furnival Road, Clarkehouse Road and Granville Road are the places highlighted by Mr Ali as causing most disruption for taxi drivers.
He said: “We’re all stuck in traffic for 20 or 30 minutes, it can be chaos and time can be wasted.”
Mr Ali, who drives a private hire taxi, is calling for Sheffield Council to issue more information ahead of roadworks starting, including details of how long they are due to last.
He is also calling for roadworks to be carried out around the clock to speed them up.
He said: “Surely it should be 24/7 to make any work finish quicker.”
Mr Ali said although taxi drivers affected, he recognises how roadworks are an issue for “every single motorist in Sheffield”.
Hafeas Rehman, 53, Chairman of the Taxi Trade Association in Sheffield, has also raised concerns and wants improved communication from the council.

“They should inform the public why, have better communication and not just rely on websites to do so, because taxi drivers face the brunt of it.”
He also shared his frustration over the traffic regulations on Carver Street, which prohibit access for vehicles in the evenings at weekends.
He said: “Carver Street creates a back log at weekends. There’s no signs to say what's going on, it can be a death trap.”
Raising other issues affecting taxi drivers, he said some road conditions are “appalling”.
He said: “The road repairs are not good enough, they need to be sorted as soon as possible with good material.
“Pot holes affect us when we have to pay to fix damage.”
Sheffield Council said it has been working with contractors on several projects across the city with the aim of improving travel for everyone, giving people a genuine choice in how they get around the city.
Once complete, the projects will enable people to walk, wheel, cycle or drive throughout the city in a safe, convenient and joined up manner, the council said.
The council said there is also a need for key water and electricity infrastructure to be maintained and upgraded too.
Along with the council’s and utility contractors, the aim is to complete the projects as quickly as possible and with as little disruption as possible, the council said.
It explained that in the coming years, the population of Sheffield is expected to expand leaving the current infrastructure system unable to cope.
Much of the work being carried out is to ensure the network is fit for the future.
