Fife Council grant taxi licence to man caught without insurance

https://www.dunfermlinepress.com/news/2 ... insurance/

A NEW taxi driver licence has been granted to a Fife man despite a police representation raising concerns that he had previously been caught driving without insurance.

David McKinlay had to appear before Fife Council’s Regulation and Licensing Committee on Tuesday when his application for a taxi driver was considered.

Police Scotland had raised a representation due to a previous offence of driving without insurance.

Mr McKinlay told committee members the offence had been an error.

He said his vehicle at the time had been in for an MOT and he had borrowed his mum’s car thinking he was insured.

“It used to be that when you had insurance and it was fully comprehensive and I could drive any other vehicle under third party,” he explained.

“I have failed to understand it was no longer the case. I thought I was still insured third party when driving the car at the time. It was not intentional.”

Committee members agreed to grant the licence which will be valid for a year.

Obviously not a details man #-o

But if you're not aware of details even less significant than that, then in respect of vehicle tests the same councillors will make you sound like a menace to society :-o

Not that I've ever made a similar point before
