So this individual was named on Facebook, as opposed to complaining to the firm? And the firm gets wind and suspends the driver. Trial by Facebook?

On the other hand, maybe she felt that the only way to get some action was to publicise it online...

A private hire driver, who drove for an Accrington-based taxi firm, has been suspended pending a full investigation after allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards a passenger.

A spokesperson for Accrington-based Max Cars, which also operates under the name Max Cabs, said the matter is under investigation.

The incident came to light after a woman shared her experience on social media, prompting the company to take immediate action.

The woman, who does not want to be named, described how a routine taxi journey after work turned into an "uncomfortable experience" and led her to "not want to book taxis anymore".

The woman was reportedly asked if she was "up for having fun" and told she was an "attractive woman".

It is alleged the driver asked if she had a boyfriend and what her "type" was, and when she told him her age in an attempt to deflect, he reportedly replied: "Well, you're not underage."

She said: "I just kept going quiet or laughing because I was in an uncomfortable situation."

A Max Cars spokesperson said the driver concerned has been suspended from carrying out bookings.

He said: "We are already aware of this matter and can confirm that the driver concerned has been suspended from carrying out bookings through Max Cars since the Facebook post was brought to our attention.

"The matter is currently the subject of an ongoing investigation involving Max Cars, the driver concerned, and Hyndburn Borough Council.

"At present, we are still awaiting any contact from the police.

"We take allegations of this nature extremely seriously.

"As soon as the matter was brought to our attention, and in accordance with our operator licence conditions and the guidance provided by Hyndburn Borough Council, the driver was immediately suspended from carrying out bookings through Max Cars pending the outcome of the investigation."

The company said it is cooperating fully with authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.

The company said: "The safety and wellbeing of our passengers is paramount, and we expect all drivers carrying out bookings through Max Cars to conduct themselves professionally and appropriately at all times.

"As a licensed operator, we are committed to complying fully with the conditions of our operator licence issued by Hyndburn Borough Council.

"Given that this is an active investigation, and having regard to our legal and confidentiality obligations, it would not be appropriate for us to disclose or comment on the details of the investigation, the evidence being considered, or the individual driver while the investigation remains ongoing.

"It is important that the proper investigation process is allowed to take its course, that all available information is considered, and that all parties are given the opportunity to provide their account before any conclusions are reached."

Hyndburn Council has been approached for comment.

It seems that the firm is doing the investigations.

If so, someone needs to tell them they are not investigators; they are just people who pick up a phone and pass work on to drivers.

The council should investigate any licence breaches, and the police should investigate any criminal behaviour.

Not some bloke in front of a computer screen. [-X
