Fareham Council consults on new taxi/PH licensing policy

https://www.fareham.gov.uk/latest_news/ ... 20261013_1

Fareham Borough Council is inviting taxi and private hire drivers, operators, and the public to comment on proposed updates to its Taxi and Private Hire Licensing Policy.

The policy sets out requirements for drivers, vehicles, and operators licensed by the Council and aims to maintain high standards of safety, accessibility, and environmental responsibility.

The proposed changes include:

• Reducing the number of permitted knowledge test attempts for new applicants from three attempts to two.

• Increasing the length of time an applicant must have held a full UK driving licence from two years to four years.

• Only considering offences committed by applicants aged 18 and over.

These proposed changes will support the licencing standards while ensuring the Council’s policy is fair, proportionate and in line with current guidelines.

The consultation is open until 20 November. Details on how to take part can be found at https://lets-talk.fareham.gov.uk/consul ... iLicensing

Executive Member for Health and Public Protection, Cllr Joanne Burton, said

“The Council’s licensing policy plays an essential role in ensuring the taxi and private hire services in Fareham are safe, reliable and of a high standard. These proposed updates reflect current guidance and best practice, helping to ensure our licencing requirements remain fair and effective. I encourage everyone affected by the changes to take part in the consultation and share their views.”

I'd support that, but only if it was more like 20 years or so :D

And that's even more unusual - so that would mean anything they'd done while younger would be disregarded entirely? What's the IoL's view on that? #-o

• Where do you get those bullet points, er, bullets from, Sussex?

• Is there a quick keyboard shortcut, or something like that?

• I always have to copy and paste them from an earlier article on here.

• And I can never remember the most recent article to use them, so always use the search function to go back to an article about spotchecks in Scarborough a few years ago, so it's all a bit cumbersome #-o

• There must be an easier way to do it, surely?

• Although it was easy enough to add the bullets for the purposes of this post - I just nicked yours
