The policy sets out requirements for drivers, vehicles, and operators licensed by the Council and aims to maintain high standards of safety, accessibility, and environmental responsibility.
The proposed changes include:
• Reducing the number of permitted knowledge test attempts for new applicants from three attempts to two.
• Increasing the length of time an applicant must have held a full UK driving licence from two years to four years.
• Only considering offences committed by applicants aged 18 and over.
These proposed changes will support the licencing standards while ensuring the Council’s policy is fair, proportionate and in line with current guidelines.
