Suspended for the 'unexpired portion of licence duration' is effectively a revocation in Scotland. Glasgow private hire driver loses licence after abuse conviction https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/266 ... onviction/ A private hire driver in Glasgow who was convicted of domestic abuse has lost his licence. Basat Hussain was suspended for the unexpired portion of his licence by the city's licensing committee following a complaint from Police Scotland. Councillors heard the driver had been found guilty of assault to injury with a domestic aggravation after an incident in December last year. The committee was told that Mr Hussain had assaulted a female when he seized her by the arm, repeatedly slapped her to the head and struck her to the head and body with a set of headphones. The woman sustained swelling to the side of her face, a police officer said. She added Mr Hussain had approached and communicated with a female at a later date despite a court order not to. The driver was handed a non-harassment order for two years. Police Scotland argued the driver, who did not attend the hearing, is "no longer fit and proper person to be holder of a licence". Councillors on Glasgow's licensing committee decided to suspend his private hire driver’s licence for the unexpired portion of its duration at a meeting. His licence was set to expire at the end of December next year. |
