Two separate overloading cases posted by Liverpool licensing over the last couple of days. Obviously unusual, but the latter case involving a local HC earned the driver eight points and nearly £800 in fines and costs. The direct financial cost to the Sefton PHD is a lot less, but also six month driving ban, and he'd also been plying for hire I'd guess he had points already, but perhaps someone could advise... Liverpool licensing wrote: A Sefton licensed private hire driver was caught by LCC Enforcement Officers in March, illegally plying for hire without insurance while carrying excessive passengers. Following a court appearance, the driver received a 6 month ban and was ordered to pay £430 in fines and costs. Liverpool licensing wrote: In Feb this year, a LCC HCV driver was caught by enforcement officers carrying more passengers than the vehicle was licensed to accommodate. The driver has now been prosecuted, receiving 8 penalty points and a total of £766 in fines and costs.

Quote: I'd guess he had points already, but perhaps someone could advise... The PH would have had points already, so the ban would have been for totting, not for touting. His fine was lower because he was now out of work, and more than likely on benefits. Whereas the hackney driver, I'm assuming, is still working and earning more than £120 a week. |
