Paul, I saw another Trafford hackney carriage stop and pick up a flagger in Manchester last night, you can't really criticise private hire drivers for pirating when Trafford hackney cabs are doing the same. Can we please see some movement on this? lol

Habib Rahman, chairman of Burnley's Private Hire Association, said: "We are going to have a discussion regarding this matter at our next meeting on October 6 to get to the bottom of what the problems are. The cars should be in perfect condition when they go out onto the roads so this is not acceptable. There will be a clear message going out to tell them to improve."
I think the problems are fairly obvious, don't you? The fact remains that MR Rahman has no authority over the 800 or so private hire drivers who ply their trade in Burnley, no matter what Mr Rahman says these self employed owners will either heed his comments, or completely disregard them.
There is no doubt that some owners will delay minor repairs until a convenient time, unfortunately when these vehicles get a pull these minor repairs become important factors. There is no excuse for major faults such as illegal tyres, brakes and steering, etc etc. If you neglect these items then you asking for trouble.
Hits of this type in Burnley are not the norm and we can probably count on one hand how many they have each year. That puts the whole situation in perspective and why many owners in Burnley and other areas fail to keep on top of their vehicles.
