Just read the post in the repairs section and it says the new engine in the TX££££ is belt driven how long will one of them last before it snaps and the valves hit the pistons then LTI says its not covered.
I knew it, I said that the VM engine was crap weeks ago in one of my posts. Lets see how long the tx£££££ lasts if at all. its just Italian American junk
I'm sure that if they had asked VW Audi they might have said they could use the 2.5 tdi that's chain driven in the cabs

It will just mean more ££££ for LTI service folks.

If the TX4 is to be successful it must be considered as reliable as the FX4 or TX1 where the Nissan engine was used.

If not then they will fail everywhere it is not mandatory to use one.

How many motors with VM engines have you driven then Skippy?

Given that theres only 5 been licensed for London, I think it would be a tad fairer to give the new set up a chance.

I remember in 1988 all the dissenters howling and shouting when the, cough, 'beloved' Rover engine was replaced with the Nissan 2.7.

We we're given the best power unit that's ever been known in the long history of the London Taxi.

Lets hope the VM gives us similar results.

Now let me think, ah yes, the vector's the omega both used oil as if it was going out of fashion, and still do, all fiats use this engine and they tend to spend more time back at the work shop than on the road.
Saab started to use it as well but saw the light and went over to a Volvo one, Now if LTI had gone strait to peugeot and asked them for an engine to try it would have worked as well and as they are now tied in with ford.
I know the ford engines where not supplied by ford but by some other company whose name I cannot remember.

a company called "POWERTRAIN" supplied the engines to the TX2's, they also supply Ford, who didn't in all honesty want to get involved directly, yes it's a tranny engine, but no proper back up from Ford themselves

GBC have you forgot that the Nissan engine was not that grate at first, and there was a problem with the cogs that where used instead of belts or chains.
But in all fairness Nissan sorted it out.
I am puzzled in the fact LTI did not contact Nissan again, as they are still using the larger capacity engines in there 4x4s
