| Post subject: | Taxitalk and their penchant for stealing others hard work |
I can't recall where but I recently read an article or reference where a member of Taxi talk magazine editorial staff criticised other magazines for recycling third party news. It might not come as a surprise to anyone but we all know that Private hire monthly is one such magazine. However, it probably won't come as a surprise to learn that TaxiTalk is also guilty of stealing other people's hard work without giving due credit to the author? The problem with magazines such as Taxitalk is that they don't give credit to those journalists who write the original articles or indeed the newspaper that published them? You might think it a bit rich for a cab driver masquerading as a journalist to usurp the hard work of a journalist but I have countless instances where Taxi talk has ripped off articles from hard working journalists without giving them or the newspaper concerned the acknowledgement they deserve. I have been browsing through my database and have come up with several articles that prove taxitalk is a serial copier of other people's work. That does not surprise me in the least…so I have decided to post some of these articles just to prove a point. Regards JD |

Here is the article and would you believe it that Taxi talk copied it word for word. You are quite at liberty to call these azzholes hypocirites and liars because that is exactly what they are. ............................................. UK Newsquest Regional Press - This is Wiltshire September 1, 2003 LENGTH: 461 words HEADLINE: Wheelchair users' fury at taxi firms BODY: Wheelchair users in Swindon are infuriated by taxi drivers in the town. Alan Russell 43 vice-chairman of the New Phoenix Disability Resource Centre in Cricklade Road has condemned black cab taxi services after hearing scores of complaints and experiencing difficulties himself. He said: "Black cab drivers in Swindon are generally obstinate and uncooperative. We are discriminated against for being in wheelchairs." Although black cabs are designed to be able to carry wheelchair users Mr Russell often struggles to book one. He said: "They don't like bothering with us. Helping us in and out of their cabs is often too much trouble. I've called for a taxi and been told there are none available only to roll down the road and see loads of them lined up. It's outrageous." Mr Russell has also been told stories of black cab taxi drivers refusing to take wheelchair users. "They see us as a liability and last resort only to be taken on board if no able-bodied customers are around." Wheelchair user Geoffrey Parker 52 from Covingham has also complained. Last Saturday he booked a taxi with Swindon Black Cabs to Swindon Town's County Ground. What should have been a relaxing afternoon watching the football turned into one of the most stressful and embarrassing times of his life. Mr Parker said: "The journey there was fine apart from a bit of trouble getting my chair in the cab. As for my lift home it simply didn't happen and I ended up being stranded for two hours." A taxi had been arranged to take Mr Parker home after the match at 4.50pm. Four minutes before this time his wife Angela 50 received a call from Swindon Black Cabs to say no one would be picking him up. He said: "They told my wife I was a liar and weighed 20 stone which is absolute nonsense. They also seemed to think four minutes notice was ample time to be left in the lurch." Mr Parker who runs Spikes Sports Club for the disabled with his wife insists he wasn't asked how much he weighed. He said: "The driver didn't mention it. But the caller asked: 'How do you expect an eight-stone man to push him into a taxi?' She then reiterated that no one would be picking me up." Fortunately Mr Parker was accompanied by his two sons Leigh 25 and Aaron 28. Mrs Parker contacted Leigh on his mobile phone to explain the problem. Despite frantic ringing around they failed to find another taxi. So as a last resort Mrs Parker borrowed a van to bring her husband home. She said: "We ended up using my brother's van. By the time we had made the ramps to get the wheelchair in it was nearly 6.30pm. I am outraged at the rudeness of Swindon Black Cabs. This is discrimination against the disabled." Swindon Black Cabs declined to comment. ......................................................................... |

I suppose you being an upright citizen... condone the practices of taxitalk? I tend to give credit where credit is due.....but keep on watching you might learn a thing or two? As an aside I'm the kind of person who sticks to his laurels but do u condone Taxitalk for ripping off journalists? And while I'm at it who would you rather believe me or Taxitalk? Regards JD |

I think I have asked you before, but can you find the article from Les Hoath (I think) written about five years ago re: the discrimination against yellow badge drivers at Heathrow? Very good, and very close to my heart. The discrim bit not the Heathrow bit.

I hope somebody gives you a screwdriver for Christmas. The reason I placed the link was so that people who did not know what Taxi Talk was would be able to understand what you're referring to . And as for believing you it would depend on what frame of mind you were in at the time. As for Taxi- talk. or any other publication a extremely large spoonful of salt is all I can say. I think you'll find that most publications swap and change their articles between each other , in fact I am led to believe that on a couple of occasions TT have photographed Taxi shows and supplied private hire monthly with photographs. and is it also not true that once it has been published it is in the public domain.

Regards JD Try as I might, I just cannot shed a tear for journalists. Lazy bunch of good for nothings. They increase the cost of their paper by 25% and then have a go at Taxi drivers for "Hiking" (thought that was a long walk with ski poles) fares by 5%. Of course, "journalists" would never stoop so low as to "rip off" someone elses story, would they? You're on that high horse again, JD, get down, before you hurt yourself. And while you're at it I'd rather believe in Father Christmas. |

I tend to agree with Jimbo. Invariably stories in taxi magazines and taxi papers are taken from local newspapers, the same newspapers that regularly (and perhaps deliberately) mis-report on all things taxi and private hire. (they do it just to annoy me you know!) What surprises me is all the trade papers regularly repeat the same stories (just to annoy me). regards CC |
